Res Nova

6' x 4'     Painting

RES   NOVA

This magnificent oil painting by Joseph Cross, PSC, PSA, measures six feet by four feet in dimension, plus a 6” wide gold frame.

This stunning depiction of the Battle of Trafalgar – October 21, 1805, authentically captures the action of the battle just after noon on that historic day. Specifically, the very moment in the battle when Admiral Nelson's flagship, HMS Victory, “crossed the T” and broad sided the stern of the Bucentaure, (Admiral Villeneuve's flagship of the combined Franco - Spanish fleets), killing over 400 sailors in the process.

The Bucentaure was destroyed by the Victory, thus heralding the ultimate outcome of that most famous of naval victories and securing, for the British navy, supremacy on the high seas for the next hundred years.

Res Nova, was privately commissioned in 1994 and meticulously researched for accuracy. This beautifully executed oil painting is awesome to behold, rich in color, and handsomely framed.

It is arguably the finest painting ever commissioned of this battle and is now made available through special arrangement with the private patron.
