Summer Spirit on the Wigwam River

This portrait was an interesting and challenging request by one of a family of four brothers. The brothers and their combined families traditionally spent a yearly fishing weekend at their favourite ‘hole’ on the Wigwam River. It is a place where the guys can go fishing, and the children could play in the river.

When we were designing the piece, using several photo albums, it was sometimes hard to tell who was who, who belonged to which family, and how many of them were there. While working on the painting, I really became engaged in the fun the children were having. It became a real delightful piece to paint. As a Christmas gift to his brothers, we reproduced the painting as a very limited reproduction in canvas giclées.
